The Ministry of Railways, through Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), has officially released the detailed Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) No. 09/2025. This massive recruitment drive is aimed at filling 22,195 vacancies for various Level-1 posts in the 7th CPC Pay Matrix across various units of Indian Railways.

Brief Description of Vacancy: This recruitment offers a golden opportunity for candidates to join Indian Railways in various technical and non-technical Level-1 roles such as Assistant Pointsman, Track Maintainer Grade-IV, and Assistant in various departments. Chune gaye ummeedwaaron (Selected candidates) will be placed in the Level-1 pay scale with an initial salary of ₹18,000 plus applicable allowances.

Application Fee

• General / OBC / EWS: ₹500/-

  • CBT में शामिल होने पर ₹400/- refund

• SC / ST / PwBD / Female / Ex-Servicemen / Minority / EBC: ₹250/-

  • CBT में शामिल होने पर पूरा ₹250/- refund

Fee refund केवल CBT में शामिल होने वाले उम्मीदवारों को मिलेगा

Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification (as on 02.03.2026)

Candidates must possess the following qualifications from a recognized Board or Institute:

• Matriculation (10th Pass) OR ITI from institutions recognized by NCVT/SCVT OR Course Completed Act Apprenticeship (CCAA).

• Note: Candidates awaiting their final results are NOT eligible to apply.

2. Age Limit (as on 01.01.2026)

• Minimum Age: 18 Years.

• Maximum Age: 33 Years.

• Age relaxations are applicable for SC/ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD, and Ex-Servicemen as per government norms.

Application Fee and Refund

The application fee must be paid ONLINE via internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI.

• Refund Policy: Candidates who attend the 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT) are eligible for a partial refund of their examination fee.

• The refund will be credited directly to the bank account seeded with the candidate’s Aadhaar number.

Recruitment Process

The selection process is designed to be fair and transparent, consisting of the following stages:

1. Computer Based Test (CBT): This is a single-stage exam. The duration is 90 minutes for 100 questions (120 minutes for candidates using a scribe).

   • General Science: 25 Questions

   • Mathematics: 25 Questions

   • General Intelligence and Reasoning: 30 Questions

   • General Awareness and Current Affairs: 20 Questions

   • Negative Marking: 1/3rd mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.

2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Candidates are shortlisted for PET at a rate of three times the number of vacancies based on CBT merit.

3. Document Verification (DV): Final shortlisting for DV is done at a 1:1 ratio.

4. Medical Examination: Candidates must pass the prescribed medical fitness test (Standard A-2, A-3, B-1, or C-1) as per the requirements of their opted posts.

Medical Standards

Medical fitness is a critical part of the selection. Different posts require different standards:

• Standard A-2: Distant Vision 6/9, 6/9 without glasses; must pass Colour, Night, and Mesopic vision tests.

• Standard A-3: Distant Vision 6/9, 6/9 with or without glasses (power not exceeding 2D).

• Important Note: Candidates who have undergone Lasik surgery are NOT eligible for posts requiring A-2 and A-3 medical standards.
