810 Vacancies in Garhwa District
The Office of the Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate, Garhwa has officially released an advertisement (No. 01/2025) for the enrollment of Home Guards in the Jharkhand Home Defense Corps. This recruitment drive aims to fill 810 vacancies across rural and urban areas of the Garhwa district.

The total vacancies are distributed between Rural and Urban Home Guards, with a mandatory 50% reservation for women across all categories.

Rural Home Guards (800 Vacancies): These posts are distributed across 20 blocks including Garhwa, Meral, Dhurki, Bhawnathpur, and Bishunpura.

Urban Home Guards (10 Vacancies): 5 posts for men and 5 for women. Out of these, 50% are reserved for technically skilled candidates.
Note: Home Guards are a voluntary organization. Members are paid an allowance at government rates only for the days they are deployed for duty. This is not a permanent salaried government job.
2. Eligibility Criteria
To apply for these positions, candidates must meet the following requirements as of January 1, 2025:

Residential Requirement:

Rural: Must be a permanent resident of the specific block from which they are applying.

Urban: Must be a resident of the urban area of Garhwa district.

Age Limit: 19 to 40 years.

Educational Qualification:

Rural: Minimum 7th Class pass.

Urban: Minimum 10th Class (Matric) pass.

Physical Standards:

Height (Male): 162 cm (General/OBC/BC) or 157 cm (ST/SC).

Height (Female): 148 cm for all categories.
-
Chest (Male): 79 cm (General/OBC/BC) or 76 cm (ST/SC).

3. Selection Process
The selection consists of a multi-stage evaluation process:
A. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Candidates will be tested on a 1-mile run, high jump, long jump, and shot put.

Running: Men completing the 1-mile run in 5 minutes or less receive 20 marks. Women completing it in 8 minutes or less receive 20 marks.

Disqualification: Men taking more than 6 minutes and women taking more than 10 minutes are disqualified.
B. Hindi Writing Ability Test
Candidates who pass the physical test must take a 100-mark written exam. A minimum of 30 marks is required to qualify.

Level: 7th grade for Rural and 10th grade for Urban applicants.
C. Technical Efficiency Test
Applicable only to Urban Technical candidates (e.g., drivers, IT operators, electricians). This is a qualifying exam with a passing score of 30 out of 100.
4. Bonus Points
Extra marks are awarded for:

Sports: 1 to 6 marks for National/State level medalists.

Higher Education: For government servants, marks range from 4 (Matric) to 10 (Post Graduate) .
