Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has begun the re-registration process for the upcoming January 2026 session . If you are an IGNOU student and wish to enroll in your next year or semester, this article is extremely important for you. Through this portal, you can not only submit your form but also pay your fees online .

The last date for IGNOU re-registration is January 15, 2026. Students are advised to apply well in advance to avoid last-minute technical issues .

Instructions for re-registration

Read the following instructions carefully before applying:

  • New Registration: If you are using this portal for the first time, you need to register by clicking on the “New Registration” button .

  • Accurate Information: Please provide your correct mobile number and email ID, as all future updates and confirmations will be sent through these modes .

  • Login Details: Students who have already registered can directly log in using their old ‘Username’ and ‘Password’ .

  • Course Selection: Choose your subjects very carefully . The University recommends that you carefully read your ‘Programme Guide’, as changing courses at a later stage may result in a loss of study time .


Payment process and security rules

IGNOU has provided online payment facility for both Indian and international students .

  1. Mode of Payment: You can deposit fees through Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card and UPI (including BHIM App) .

  2. Security caution: Do not share your card details or OTP with anyone . Use your own card or net banking whenever possible .

  3. Failed Payment: If the status doesn’t update after making a payment, don’t make another payment immediately . Wait a day and then decide .

  4. Refunds: If you accidentally pay twice for the same application, one payment will be refunded to your account .


Technical support and feedback

If you encounter any problems during registration (such as not receiving an OTP or forgetting your password), you can contact your Regional Center . They will help you reset your account or update your contact information .

Additionally, students can also share their feedback on the University’s ‘Gyan Darshan’ and ‘Gyan Vani’ programmes .

Special note: If you are filling out the form at a cyber cafe or outside outlet, make sure your courses are selected correctly and that the payment has been made successfully . After applying, be sure to print out your form and payment confirmation .
